A bamboo rolling tray sits between the plastic one you replace every year and the hardwood one you keep meaning to buy.
Natural bamboo under a food-safe coating, lap-sized, with a discard corner. $22.00.
Bamboo is a grass, not a timber, and it regrows in a few years rather than a few decades. That makes it the sustainable pick in this category. It is also hard and dimensionally stable, so choosing it does not mean accepting something flimsy.
Big enough to work on across your knees. Small enough to slide onto a shelf or into a drawer when you are done. Most trays miss this in one direction or the other.
One corner is cut for waste, so clearing up is a sweep rather than a hunt for a bin. The rest of the surface is left open on purpose.
The bamboo sits under a food-safe finish. It wipes clean, and the surface does not absorb what lands on it. Each tray keeps its own markings under the coating.
A bamboo tray is a bamboo tray. Put it in an entryway for keys, sunglasses, a wallet and a lip balm, or on a desk for the small things that otherwise migrate. Nothing about it announces what else it is for.
One size, one finish. Premium quality, without the premium price tag.
Damp cloth, then dry it. No soaking and no dishwasher, same as any finished wood.
The Premium Acacia Wood Rolling Tray is 9.5 by 9.5 inches of solid hardwood in three grain styles at $49.99. The Eco-Tray is plant-based and fully biodegradable at $12.00. See all three in trays.
