HOW HUMIDIFYING STONES WORK

Baked clay has kept things from drying out for centuries, and the mechanism is simple. The stone absorbs water, then releases it slowly into the air around it. No chemistry, no salt solution, nothing to expire.

SOAK IT FOR FIVE MINUTES

Soak the stone in clean water for about five minutes, let it dry off for another one or two, then put it in with your herbs. That is the entire process. Repeat it whenever the stone dries out.

HANG IT, DO NOT REST IT

The 19cm string is there for a reason. Hang the stone above the contents and trap the string under the lid, so the stone humidifies the air instead of sitting wet against what you are storing. That is the difference between fresh and damp.
