A filter you throw away every few months is a filter you should be able to compost.
This one is made almost entirely from cornstarch and breaks down fully within eight months, in a compost heap or just in the ground. $24.99.
The body is almost entirely cornstarch. That is unusual in this category, where the standard is a plastic shell you bin and forget. Keep the outer packaging sealed until you use it, because it starts degrading once air gets to it.
Breathe out into the filter and what comes out the other side is cleaner. It catches the smell at the point it leaves you, not after it has spread through a room. Same reason a personal air filter works and an air freshener does not.
Fully, whether it goes to a compost facility or into a natural environment. Take the silicone band and mouthpiece off before you dispose of it. Those are the parts that will not break down with the rest.
Small thing, real difference. Resting it flat lets the trapped air pass back through and the media dry out, which keeps it working across its full life instead of half of it.
It handles the exhale, and in a shared space that is most of the problem. It does nothing about what comes off the bowl while it burns, and no filter of this type does. Ventilation still helps.
One filter, no cartridges to buy, nothing to dispose of at the end but the filter itself. Premium quality, without the premium price tag.
The Personal Air Filter uses replaceable cartridges in a reusable body, which works out cheaper if you get through filters quickly. Compare them in air filters and cleaners.
